Welcome to the Macedon CFA website

The Macedon Fire Brigade is a volunteer organisation responsible for the prevention and suppression of fire and assistance during other emergencies. This brigade is responsible for the residential, industrial and rural areas of Macedon and the surrounding areas. Under the direction of CFA, Macedon Fire Brigade also provides support to many other emergency service agencies, in the event of a major incident, whether within the Macedon assignment zone or not.

Over the past 10 years Macedon Fire Brigade has taken part in major fire fighting campaigns in South Australia, Queensland, NSW, and the North East of Victoria. This is, of course, apart for the fires that have occurred within our own general area, such as Macedon, Trentham, Daylesford and, most recently, Whittlesea/Kinglake.

Our brigade is made up of approximately 50 members from various walks of life which include tradespeople and professionals. The Brigade Management Team consists of a Captain and 6 other officers who are elected by the brigade members every two years. The Brigade is also supported by an Operations Officer and Operations Manager who are appointed by the Country Fire Authority (CFA).

Macedon Fire Brigade is a member of the Mount Macedon Group of brigades, which comprises eight brigades who regularly provide operational support to one another. The Mount Macedon Group consists of Bullengarook, Gisborne, Heskett, Macedon, Mt Macedon, Newham, Riddells Creek and Woodend fire brigades.

Thanks to fantastic support from the community, we can now purchase a new tanker!

Replacement of Macedon Tanker 2

To All Residents of Macedon and surrounding area

In the latter part of 2014 we put out a flyer to the community to ask for your help, to raise the additional funds required, to replace our existing “Brigade Owned” Fire Tanker with the new Crew Cab Medium Tanker below.

As you may recall, at the time, we were around $160,000 short of the amount needed to effect this replacement, so we were in a fairly tight situation and the future prospects weren’t looking too bright.

You may also recall that we had been made a very generous offer, by a local business, of them donating $3 for every $1 we raised from community donations, which meant that we only had to raise $40,000 from the Community to achieve our goal.

As it has all transpired, we fell short, as we only achieved around $26,000 in donations from the Community, which left us well short of our original target. However, with our invested funds, Flea Market Income for 2015, revised pricing for the new truck.....and, an amazing donation of around $77,000 from our local benefactor....we have achieved the amount required to replace our truck.

So, we will be placing the order for our new “Brigade / Community Owned” Medium Tanker within the next few weeks and expect to take delivery around the beginning of 2016.

A handover ceremony will take place at the fire station, and we hope to see as many people there as possible to welcome our new addition and to check out its capabilities and features. Advertising will be placed around the area when we have a confirmed date and we welcome you all to attend.

Of course, you are very welcome to attend the Fire Station any Sunday morning to have a look at the existing Tanker and we can offer you some information on why the new Tanker will be so much more effective and “user friendly” that the current one.

And, our existing Tanker will be going up for sale, when we receive the new one, so anyone that may have a use for a very affordable, 4X4, 2000ltr, low mileage, fully equipped and operational Fire tender, please also feel free to contact us for more information. We can also provide training on the use and capabilities of the vehicle.

So, finally, from the Officers and Members of the Macedon Rural Fire Brigade, Thank You all so very much, for your support over the years and especially to the local business owners that made this whole thing possible by their extremely generous and selfless act.
